To switch or not to switch (to Win10)

Post by theDisillusioned » Wed Mar 25, 2020 1:16 am

My apologies if this question or a permutation of it has already been asked.

I am currently running Ubuntu 16.04 on an old HP laptop. My son is building me a new machine as the problems and frustrations with my current set-up have become too much. I am considering installing Win10 on the new machine as opposed to Ubuntu 18.04 or whatever the current LTS release is. My question is what, in your opinion(s) are the benefits and detriments of Win10 (as) compared to Linux generally and Ubuntu 16.04/18.04/current LTS release?

Additional, possibly helpful, information:
In addition to the web browsing everyone does, my machine is used mostly for gaming via Discord, image creation/editing/manipulation using GIMP & Inkscape and, a great deal of writing using LibreOffice.
I have used XP & 7 on my home machines in the past.

Many Thanks,
DjC
