Geek XP

Post by 360alaska » Thu Apr 18, 2019 9:12 pm

After seeing the response to MJD’s Video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4fEe18th3Q) I have decided to update Geek XP. While the graphics I designed in photoshop were cool at the time they really haven’t aged well. I decided to change the theme to something a little more modern, so I present GXP 4:

Features:
- Windows 7 Icons & Sounds
- PLUS! intregrated
- IE 8 integrated
- WMP 10 integrated
- MCE integrated
- TPC integrated
- Firefox
- 7-zip
- Vlc
- INfrarecorder

V4 Changelog:
- Changed the default theme to Embedded
- Designed a logon Screen based on the embedded theme
- Removed Powerdvd
- Replaced Winrar with 7-zip
- Updated Vlc
- Updated INfrarecorder
- Added Themes
- Updated Firefox to the last version supported by XP and added a no updates profile
- Added Vista screensavers and changed the logon screensaver to vista mistify

Awesome stuff, it looks great!

From Michael MJD's review, do you happen to have a download link for your older version? I would like to install that one and take a look at that one if you still have it! :)

Why haven't you planned on updating it to WMP 11? Man that version makes me feel nostalgic...

I just wanted to thank you for all of your hard work and kindness. I watched Michael's video on this updated version and just had to try it for myself. I have a machine that it might work on. Take care and keep up the great work!

Pretty amazing OS, looks great and has nice performance. If it weren't for the lack of support that Windows XP has, I'd gladly use this OS as the one I use in day-to-day life.

The performance is amazing. Are you planning to release a 64-bit version? We need to fully utilize the ram.

Thank you all for the comments, at this point I don't plan on releasing a X64 version. XP64 is somewhat of a redheaded stepchild.
