Installing Windows onto a internal-to external hard drive

Post by sreeragrajesh » Tue Nov 17, 2020 4:57 pm

Hello all,

I have a TOSHIBA Satellite C850-P5010, which has a 320 GB internal hard drive, made by TOSHIBA.

Suddenly, my computer experienced some problems and the technician replaced the hard drive with a Seagate 500 GB HDD.

I recovered my data from the old hard drive, then formatted it.
I bought this:

ORICO 2.5 inch USB3.0 SATA External Hard Drive Enclosure for 9.5mm 7mm 2.5 Inch SATA HDD and SSD Up to 4TB Tool-Free UASP Supported - Black

which converts internal hard drives to external (with blazing fast USB3.0)

I got this for Rs. 599 at Amazon.in Great Indian Festival (approximately $8.05)

Link: https://www.amazon.in/ORICO-Technology- ... B00B0RD2RA

I use this as my storage drive.
Now I want to install Windows Vista or 7 to this hard disk. (because I have Windows 8 and 10 on other PCs) and also Windows Vista/7 looks pretty!
Each time I run setup it says that Windows can't be installed to a hard disk connected to the computer with a USB or IEEE 1394 port.
Can anyone please help?
Can I install Windows using any software etc.?

Programs such as WinToUSB or Rufus should allow you to install Windows onto an external drive.
