Windows 95, it works with almost every program from the 1990s and the 1980s. Also the performance is much better because 95 requires only 4 MB of ram, while 98 needs 16.

Windows 98/95, they are pretty nice unless the CPU is too powerful for Windows 95 lol, but they are very nice for runnng old software (tho I'd also like to try NT 4.0).

I could say Windows 3.1 or Windows 9x. Windows 3.1x has a pretty giant software library. Windows 9x has a super large software library. :D

I just briefly read through this thread and may I form a hypothesis?

For me, I voted ME, because ME was the very first version I have kind of fond memories of. My uncle had it installed and I liked how it looked.

My hypothesis:
May most people here chose the version they first came into contact with? So that this is not mainly based on objective facts (as we have no specification of the system to exactly know what will best work on it), but an appeal to reveal a part of ourselves? Like, the time we came into contact with computers.
Like, someone born earlier or in a more tech friendly family might remember Windows 95 and has nostalgic feelings for it. But I was born later and the first real memories are of ME and so I feel more nostalgic that way.

This is not a bad thing at all, and this is in no way a criticism of this thread or anything. Just an idea I had when thinking about this thread. Really like to see the stats.
