Intel VIIV in 2017

Post by Meow2004 » Wed Feb 01, 2017 11:39 pm

Hi, At my house I have ubuntu 16.04 running on an Intel VIIV. It isn't that slow, but i'm surprised that it still works today, even on Ubuntu 16.04
Thanks, from Meow2004

What CPU does that correspond to? I remember Intel VIIV, but I thought it was like Centrino in that it represents a set of hardware (like I have a Core 2 Duo Centrino laptop, which means it had a midrange Intel CPU and Intel WiFi).

Regardless, that's still pretty cool! I've been impressed with Core 2 Duo-era machines' longevity.
Lenovo ThinkCentre M79, AMD A4-6300B APU, 8 GB DDR3-1600 Memory, 120 GB Sandisk SSD Plus, 500 GB WD Blue, Fedora 25 Cinnamon
Dell Inspiron 3542, Intel Core i3-4030U CPU, 8 GB DDR3L-1600 Memory, 240 GB Intel 335 SSD, Fedora 25 Cinnamon

This use to be on Windows XP, but then my dad got rid of Windows XP, got his GF Windows 7, (now 10), and replaced XP with Ubuntu 12.04
