Re: A way to get Windows OS up to Server 2003

For those wondering where Win1.x-3.x are, it's in Disc 2, Older folder. However, when I tried to write one (WfW 3.11), the host machine's antivirus (Windows Defender) says the floppy image contains AntiCMOS virus. Is this normal? This is after I got 2 BSODs on the VM I wrote the disks to - as those ...

Should I in-place upgrade my Windows 98 VM?

I have a Windows 98 VM on VMware Player. It was converted from Virtual PC and then Virtualbox (dropped Virtualbox due to horrible Win9x support). ipconfig isn't recognizing the network adaptor, although it appears on Network control panel, and so it can't connect to Internet. Should I reinstall/in-p...

Re: XP and VMware = shuttering sounds

I get that problem as well on my XP VM, but it doesn't do that all the time. Something might be corrupt within the machine, at least to my knowledge. Huh. I set up a Windows 2000/ME dual-boot VM and the Windows 2000 part has the same stuttering sound issue for some reason. :? Edit: Video of my 2000...

Usually the sound after the startup sound is okay. At least it is for me.
The shutdown and volume beep test also stutters (I got the correct term from someone on a Discord channel.).

Re: A way to get Windows OS up to Server 2003

Just a heads-up, these ISOs are from 2003 so they don't include SP2/SP3 for XP - you need to install them on your own. (At least they have working PROGMAN.EXE here, so back that and PROGMAN.HLP up before installing SP2/SP3). You could just install Service Pack 2 or 3 from any website. Most notably,...

Re: Neat Abandon-ware site!

Since someone mentioned Vetusware, just a warning: they operate on karma system, and, the last time I used it, limited to few downloads per day. Also, if you don't use your Vetusware account in a long time, your account will lose karma and you will be unable to download anything.
