you could try compiling from source since they have that open to the public here or look on there web page for there older release that was free that might be old enough to have a ppc executable. or you could put linux on that G5 that is also a option but its all up to you.

not really worth it since most integrated gpus will have better performance but if you have no IGPU or get one for free its worth keeping as a testing part for systems with no igpu.

JK I am using KDE neon on my laptop right now and Kubuntu on my desktop (on one of its many hdds) but I have my 500 gig hdd on this laptop nearly full of linux and windows vms.

windows xp because it was stable (as much as windows can be) had such long term support and works with nearly anything and its likely it will never die but eh I don't use it any more nearly any of my computers that is if the computer even runs windows anymore.
